Top things to do in Merimbula and the Sapphire Coast.

Merimbula Boardwalk

Merimbula Boardwalk wraps Merimbula Lake, taking you on a beautiful walk past local oyster farms, towering eucalypts and stunning mangroves. At 3.4 kilometres return it will take around 1 – 1.5 leisurely hours return, with seating and jetties along the way. Make sure you pit-stop at Sunny’s Kiosk for coffee or a glass of wine!

Whale Watching

Merimbula’s coast is one of the premier spots for seeing whales migrate close to shore. Often known as the Humpback Highway, the Sapphire Coast hosts tens of thousands of whales between August to November, as they make their way to Antarctica for the summer. Watch from the shore from either Long Point or Tura Headland Lookouts, or head out with Sapphire Coastal Adventures for a thrilling boat cruise to see these magnificent animals up close.

Gravity Eden

Gravity Eden is the South Coast’s latest addition to the thriving mountain bike scene. 58km+ of gravity-fed mountain bike trails snake down the hillsides around Eden, with a peak elevation of 300m, within the stunning Nullica State Forest. As a Foundation Sponsor of the park, we can attest to how great it is and whether a pro or beginner, everyone should have a go!

Navigate Expeditions

Navigate Expeditions offer nature-focused, sustainable and immersive excursions throughout the beautiful Sapphire Coast region. Whether you choose to explore via kayak, bike or walking, the eco-tours offer something for all abilities. We particularly love their dedication to having a positive impact on the environment, community, and culture, so make sure you book a tour with Navigate on your next visit.

Broadwater Oysters

For over 26 years Broadwater oysters have been farming Sydney Rock oysters in the pristine waters of Pambula Lake. A visit to their lakeside home is a must, where the team will tell you all about their farm and let you sample the award winning oysters for yourself, straight from the water. Our pick is the farm tour and shuck tour.

Ryefield Hops

Ryefield Hops is a family owned business that produces sustainable hops, grown using regenerative agriculture principles for the Australia craft beer market. Set in the picturesque village of Bemboka, in the foothills of the South East Forests National Park, they offer a number of events on farm, including tours and an annual ‘Dine in the Bines’ summer dinner. Be sure to check out their website for all event info, including the annual ‘Pick Your Own Sunflowers’!

North of Eden Gin

Set in the beautiful rolling hills of Brogo, 30 minutes north of Merimbula, North of Eden’s cellar door offers wonderful country views where guests can relax and unwind while sampling some of their incredible gins. Gather your friends and pack some nibbles and let the team take you on a tasting journey – you won’t regret it!

Merimbula and Pambula Shopping

With many boutique shops selling awesome local and regional goods, we love exploring retail in our towns! Start on Pambula’s Quondola St, the home of many artisanal stores, where you can find wonderful clothing, homewares, wholefoods and health products. Then head into Merimbula to pick up the best adventure goods and beachwear. Our favourite is Daytrip, the best place to pick up some great threads and quality outdoor goods!
